_The Tenant of Wildfell Hall_ by Anne Brontë. Different vibe, but will get you two out of three Brontë sisters (and I’m not recommending _Wuthering Heights_), and is, to my mind, the most modern and realistic of the four Brontë novels I’ve read. (But _Jane Eyre_ is my touchstone favorite.)
