Have been in love with these to books for awhile and am curious if there's any books that are similar. Would also be great if there's a book with a MC similar to the people in these books or Ivan karamazov (from brothers karamazov). I like the contemplative style. I especially like that the person in Notes from the underground isn't exactly a good person.

really enjoyed “the stranger” by camus for similar vibes – meursault is pretty morally ambiguous and the whole thing has that introspective, detached quality. “hunger” by knut hamsun might work too since the narrator is kind of unreliable and not particularly likeable. if you want something more modern, “stoner” by john williams has that contemplative style but the character is more sympathetic than dostoevsky’s underground man.
