Because of Kindle Unlimited, I find myself reading more slop than ever.
My favorite book is Hard Rain Falling by Don Carpenter, so I like that type of depressing, angsty read that never really leads to anything good happening. Don't say a little life, I'm saving that for after I take my licensing exam in July.
I love realistic fiction, non-fiction, and cyberpunk themed fiction. I'm also going to be working as a prosecutor, so anything with that or criminal law as a theme gets an instant bump up on the list. I also enjoy hidden philosophical themes.
Thanks in advance.

dude you need to check out the stieg larsson trilogy if you haven’t already. girl with the dragon tattoo and all that – has the criminal/legal stuff plus that dark scandinavian vibe that never lets up
for something more recent, try “the seven husbands of evelyn hugo” – wait no that’s not depressing enough for what you want. actually go with “my education” by susan choi instead. it’s this slow burn psychological thing that gets under your skin
since you mentioned cyberpunk, neuromancer is obvious but if you want something newer, klara and the sun hits different. not exactly cyberpunk but has that tech-human intersection thing going on
