I'm trying to start with books I like to build the habit back up. Got lucky on my first dive back in with "Ellie and the Harpmaker" by Hazel Prior. It's very endearing with just enough tension/bad guys. No sex scenes, but there are romantic gestures.
And as a bonus, the author describes the landscapes and environment so beautifully. It takes place in the English countryside, but anywhere beautiful is appreciated. I prefer nothing centered around nuclear families. And my definition of contemporary is Gilmore Girls, which I could be wrong about, but not for me. Also, Prior’s other books are quite different. so no luck there.
I realize how hyper specific this is, and it took me a while to post here bc of that reason. I appreciate your suggestions.
