Just looking for other people to share their favorite books with their reasoning as to why they love it. It doesn’t need to be esoteric or under rated or anything, just something you loved reading and the reasons it stood out to you. My personal favorites are “The Count of Monte Cristo” and “The Things They Carried” (highly under rated book btw). “The Count of Monte Cristo” is by far the most well rounded story of all time IMO, it straddles the line between plodding and over stimulating so well, it all culminates in a phenomenal denouement. “The Things They Carried” is so stunningly beautiful, a series of short stories, one story will be a page and a half, the next maybe 18 pages long, and both are just as articulate, thought provoking, and gut wrenching. Would love to hear some from you guys.

    1. Any book that can create a bug, complex world that works within the rules it establishes. It can be fantasy, sci-fi or more grounded, but if the world “feels” real, there is a good chance I will like the book.

    2. Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. Some books make you laugh, cry or dream. Perhaps they entertain, enchant or terrify you. I haven’t met many books that do all of these things, but this one does.

Never Let Me Go, I just really like books and movies that contemplate mortality and what a meaningful life is through mundane people.
