I'm about to drive cross-country and I need a comfort read!
My all-time most reread series is The Mortal Instruments and all of its spinoffs, though I've outgrown it and most of its peers. But I still like the quick hook, the fast pace, and the focus on character over world.
I love The Kingkiller Chronicles, The Raven Cycle, and the Six of Crows duology. I'm not generally a romantasy fan (did not enjoy Shadow & Bone, An Ember in the Ashes, or any Sarah J Maas, for example). I recently got through Red Rising and I loved the pace & narration, but it was a little too grim for what I'd like on a road trip.
My favorite audiobook narrators are Saskia Maarleveld, Matthew Lloyd Davies, Stephen Fry, and Julia Whelan. I don't like full-cast readings.
Got any recs??

I just started *Dungeon Crawler Carl* on audiobook, and I am seriously listening to it every spare minute I can. It’s fast paced, has world building, great characters, and the narrator is an absolute gem. It would be perfect for a road trip!
The Chronicles of St Mary’s by Jodi Taylor, narrated by Zara Ram. They’re quite short books but there’s lots of them, it’s pretty light hearted but also paced well with good story progression.
Dungeon Crawler Carl!! Jeff Hays amazing narration combined with such an incredible and addicting book/series is just *chefs kiss*.
