Speculative or literary fiction recs

Any recommendations for books with characters or plots that are unrealistic but the setting is mostly realistic. There is an aspect that is scifi or horror but the overall theme is very human.

My examples coming to mind are Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson or Shark Heart by Emily Habeck or The Measure by Nikki Erlick.
