Basically what the title says. I absolutely love how Murakami writes heavy themes of loss and loneliness with beautiful metaphors but his way of portraying women is honestly pitiful. I am reading Kafka on the Shore right now and every damn scene with a female character makes me cringe out, absolutely breaking the spell. I want books with similar themes of grief, unrequited love, loss and loneliness without so much misogyny and unnecessary intercourse. Give me something poignant and deeply symbolic that forces me to sit and think for hours.
