A little bit of context im 36 and started reading books like 2 years ago (see list below). But for some reason there are only, or I got only, sad books that are beatifull and perfect in every sence but are there also some happy story or happy ending classic literature books? All these give me life lessons but also a bit depressed in the end. English is my third language and I want to learn it more so pardon me for any mistakes grammatically but I dont want to spellcheck or AI everything.

Books I have read since I started:

    1984
    Frankenstein
    The idiot
    Crime and punishment
    The stranger
    Notes from the underground
Perfume: the story of a murder

All these are a slap in the face.

What I want to read and already have bought:

    Dracula
    Brave new world
    Brothers Kharamazov
    A confedaracy of dunces

I have a list of 50 other books I want to buy but all go in the same direction.

I have philosophical books that I switch to after a novel, like Socrates, Plato, Nietzsche etc.

But i want some feel good novels please.

David Copperfield has some sad parts but is ultimately a happy / feel good novel in my opinion. Such amazing characters, they will stay with you for life!

    3. Jane Austen, PG Wodehouse, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, The Enchanted April, A Room with a View, Letters to a Young Poet (nonfiction), Adventure of Robin Hood, The Importance of Being Ernest, Narnia books, Alice in Wonderland, Around the World in 80 Days, All Creatures Great and Small.

    4. Since you already have it, *A Confederacy of Dunces* is fun.

But I’ll warn you that *Brave New World* gets quite sad and dark.

*God Bless You Mr Rosewater* by Kurt Vonnegut is another fairly happy novel, although there are rough elements in the protagonist’s background.

*The Odyssey* has a fairly happy ending, albeit quite a violent one.

Ditto Jane Austen’s novels and *Anne of Green Gables*.

Search on any book site- for “cozy” mystery or “cozy” fantasy. They tend to be lighter and/or funny. Some authors I like who write upbeat books:

Layla Lawlor – Detective Keely and Associates

K.M. Shea – Especially the books set in the Magiford “world”

Frank Tuttle – Markhat files — fantasy detective with quirky side characters. He gets in some bad spots, but always saves the day in the end.

T.M. Baumgartner — fantasy books that are really fun reads. Good place to start: All Gremlins Great and Small

For a very quirky and fun book, try Nia Quinn’s Banshee and Bobas.
