hello! so i'm planning to start a small book club for my friends & i to enjoy but most of us don't read very much. for context, most of us are in our early 20's. i've always just read manga for a long time because it's more engaging for my adhd brain. but i'd like to work on my attention span and read a book that makes it easy to dive into.
since this will be our very first book we read, i want it to be something that hooks readers in easily. most likely a fictional book. i want it to be an enjoyable read, nothing with extremely dark themes for our first book. preferably a book that really makes you reflect, mostly in a positive way, i hope?
right, and i'd like to keep it under 200 pages since it's our first book. i'm a little worried my friends will struggle with commitment so i want it to be enjoyable for everyone 🙂 i plan to have us start around april 1st, so i have about 4 days to decide & set everything up. so exciting!
thank you so much to anyone who recommends a book, it's very appreciated!

The Empress of Salt and Fortune.
All Systems Red, the first of the Murderbot series. It’s a novella (so short and fast-paced) with a gripping story and likable characters. If you like it, there’s a whole series and the next 4 are also novellas. There’s also a TV show following the first book.
Before the coffee gets cold
i just wanted to add that i found this list: [https://lithub.com/the-50-best-contemporary-novels-under-200-pages/](https://lithub.com/the-50-best-contemporary-novels-under-200-pages/) and some of the books there sounds very interesting to me personally! i’m realizing now that i think it’d be better if the recommended books weren’t apart of a series, although it could motivate other people to continue the series on their own, which i do want to encourage! so maybe as long as the first book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, that’d be great! thank you guys
