I’m absolutely fascinated by bugs and entomology. I’d love any recommendations you have to help me, as an amateur, learn the science of insects and how they interact with our world.

I have severe ADHD and dyslexia, so I tend to lose interest if something is too scientifically dense. I’m looking for entry-level, engaging books that are easy to get into but still informative—something that can help me start building real knowledge without feeling overwhelming.

I think a great place to start would be a field guide specific to my area, but I haven’t had much luck finding insects out in the open, which makes it a bit less exciting. I’m also really drawn to beautifully illustrated books, especially ones with hand-drawn artwork like older field guides.

    1. omg check out “the bug girl” by sophia spencer! it’s super accessible and she was literally bullied for loving bugs but kept going with her passion. perfect for adhd brains too since it’s not all dense and boring.
