Hi everyone. Q1 of 2026 has started off differently for me—I recently lost a friendship due to a communication breakdown. While I’ve accepted it and moved forward, it was a big wake-up call about how much I still need to improve at navigating tense, high-stakes conversations.

The rest of 2026, I want to read few books that focuses on on conflict resolution or handling difficult conversations, something practical for people in their 30s+ with real-life experience. I have Non-violent Communication and Crucial Conversation in my tbr. I read Crucial Conversations a few years back, but I feel like I’d get so much more out of a refresher—or maybe a new perspective.

I also have access to some recorded workshop, but that's beyond the scope of this subreddit.

If you’ve read any book that helped you learn the strategies to stay calm and gave you the framework to communicate better when emotions run high, I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Getting Real by 37signals isn’t exactly about conflict resolution but it has some solid chapters on clear communication that actually translate well to teh personal stuff too
