Hello! I am, for “fun”, studying the relationship between fandom and escapism. I would like to read material that comes from a more critical or even negative place, but not in a hyper conservative sense. Think Adam Curtis’s documentaries Hypernormalisation and Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, or something like the book Girl on Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves by Sophie Gilbert. I would like something more focused on “fandom” but I’ll take anything to do with pop culture in general.
