I don’t want morally gray heroes or stories where the hero slowly becomes an anti-hero. Are there any dark fantasy books where the protagonist is a good person and smart enough to make the right decisions in a morally gray world? (Bonus points if the story shows the protagonist’s journey from childhood to adulthood without major time skips.)

Poppy War series might work but fair warning – the protag starts pure hearted then goes through some absolutely brutal stuff that tests her morality 💀 Still maintains her core goodness though even when the world tries to break her down
Also maybe try The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin – Essun deals with insane oppression but never loses her humanity despite everything being stacked against her 🔥
**Witcher** series? Although not much in it about his childhood (but there are some flashbacks)
