    Hi everyone!

I am a grad student in library and information sciences. One of our classes has us practicing coming up with book suggestions for patrons. We're required to stay away from friends/family/acquaintances to avoid our relationship with them influencing how we come up with recommendations. So I've come to the fine people of r/books to look for volunteers! I have a short list of questions below and you can just message or comment your answers to the questions. I'll take the first 10 people to respond and within the next two weeks, will send you back a list of five or six books according to your answers. Here are the questions:

1.) Thinking back to the last two or three books you read and really enjoyed: what genres were they?

2.) Would you like book suggestions that are similar to what you've read in the past or are you looking to try something completely new?

3.)Are there any topics/genres that you would like to avoid or just don't enjoy?

4.) What are some examples of your favourite video games, movies or TV shows?

Thanks so much if you respond or even if you just made it to the end of this post!

This is actually a really cool assignment! I’ve been stuck in a reading rut lately so this could be perfect timing.

1.) Last few I loved were sci-fi (Project Hail Mary), historical fiction (The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo), and a thriller (Gone Girl – yeah I’m late to that party)

2.) I’d love a mix – maybe one or two similar to what I know I like, but definitely throw in something wildly different

3.) Not huge on romance as the main plot, and I tend to bounce off most fantasy with heavy world-building

4.) Love shows like The Good Place, Severance, and What We Do in the Shadows. Games are mostly indie stuff like Hades and Stardew Valley. Movies all over the place but big fan of anything A24 puts out.

      Good luck with your class!

      Oh this is fun!

      1. Contemporary fiction, YA fantasy, rom-coms, historical fiction (focused on women preferably)

      2. Either is fine!

      3. I won’t read horror or psychological thrillers and I don’t usually love mysteries, but can be convinced to try them.

      4. I’ve been very into the “cozy” trends–rewatching Schitt’s Creek, playing Unpacking, that kind of thing.

Bonus question and answer: A few of my all-time favorite books are Project Hail Mary, The Night Circus, the Throne of Glass series, and Atmosphere
