I used to read ALL the time as a child. It started with every dog book I could find. Then teen witch type books. (of course many others along the way, rats of nimh, little princess, etc).

Harry Potter was amazing, of course.

I pushed through LotR – it was hard at 13, but I *loved* the movies.

I read Twilight – cannot say I really enjoyed it per se, I knew it wasn't quality (don't need to re-iterate that for me lol).

But it was popular at the time and I was a reader so I did.

Now I'm an adult and I am obsessed with psychology, spirituality, business, self-help related books, and podcasts.

This started around age 15 and I haven't really read for pleasure since!

(Ok a few books, like the Martian, hitchhiker's guide (edit: just the first one) etc. I do love space too!) But they've been sporadic and also, years ago now.

I've been wanting to get back in to fiction for a while, but think I'm gonna have to literally force myself to start, because it feels "unproductive" and I think I've truly forgotten how enriching and pleasurable books can be.

I'm hoping to find some books where throughout my day, I can't wait to read more! Where on my work break I'll be excited to open my book. Or if I have to wait for an appointment – no biggie – I get to read!!!

Or, how fast can I get my home chores done so I can get back to my book?!

That's what I miss and want!

So I would love to hear any and all recommendations.

I don't even know what I would like that much.

    I guess fantasy/romance might be a good start…??

Or something about dogs / animals maybe..?

    I am pretty open though.

I think most importantly, I need some books to get me started.

So, like a standalone book or series that's really good, but not super hard to get into.

Honestly I'm open to anything REALLY good and not too daunting at this point.

    Thank you. 🙏🏻!

(Note: not as important, but if there are any especially good books you'd recommend for AUDIO, happy to hear those recs too, to maybe replace some of my podcast listening).

    ***TLDR:
What are some good books to get back into reading fiction for pleasure/enjoyment (rather than viewing reading as productive in some way)

Looking for great books that are not too daunting, to start. To help remind me reading is awesome and worth prioritizing! 💓
