I’m looking for more historical non-fics like “The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper” and “The Faithful Executioner”.
Basically, non-fic where the author is able to build a biography of a historical figure(s) that doesn’t get as much attention as the kings and queens and serial killers of history. The author mashes together records and diaries relevant to the person with an anthropological and sociological understanding of the person’s era and where they lived to paint a detailed (albeit somewhat speculative) portrait of their life.
I think they’re neat.
