Recently I’ve read yellowface, such a fun age, and bunny which all got me out of a reading slump! What are some other novels with a similar vibe – page turners that read like a thriller, but without any murder (bunny doesn’t really fit this description lol).
I think the flawed main characters and social commentary were some of my favorite elements – but doesn’t have to be just about race. I also really enjoyed the books’ voices. I’m currently reading Babel and enjoying it, but it’s definitely more flowery than what I’m looking for.
Some books I’ve already added to my list are
– the other black girl
– my year of rest and relaxation
– the guest
Thanks!

You should check out “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” if you haven’t already – it’s got that gossipy Hollywood insider vibe with a flawed narrator who’s manipulative as hell. “Convenience Store Woman” is another good one, way shorter but the main character’s perspective on society is pretty cutting and weird in the best way
