Hi!
Bones, the TV show, basically raised me. I recently tried reading the original books and while the crime and characters were good, I felt like the writing was mediocre.
So, I'm looking for a crime/murder of the week/police procedural series to devour. I really liked the emphasis on forensic science rather than cops. It doesnt have to be that specialty, but just less cop centered? I also loved the female main character and that's a requirement. Is there anything better written? Anything that's a series of books?
Dresden files is also one of my favorite series but I'm looking for more realism and less fantasy i think.
I also enjoyed the first few seasons of 911, the firefighter show. I tend to give up on these kinds of shows when the interpersonal drama wins out over the crime. Same with Grey's Anatomy.
Maybe niche but I really liked NCIS Hawaii and I'm kinda mad it was cancelled even though I was probably the only person watching lol. The first few seasons of NCIS were also great.

Patricia Cornwall’s books are forensic focused.
Murder with Peacocks by Donna Andrews is the first of good sized series.
