    I'm from Ukraine.

I, as many of my countrymen, moved to a different country as the war started.

There's a spectrum in how people behave:

    – On one end, some people seem incredibly flexible and adaptable. Abroad, they learn local language, find new jobs and marry. They seem to know what they want and are willing to take every opportunity that life offers them.

    – On another end, there are people like my grandparents, who refuse to leave their home and improve their living situation even when the possibility is there. They are willing to endure stress, real danger and discomfort with no particular rational upside to their actions.

And I'm somewhat in the middle. I certainly take some shots, but at the same time, objectively, a lot of the things just sort of happen to me.

For example, my parents suggested my uni and I was like "yeah, okay".
Or the country I'm in. It was also suggested by my relatives – I didn't really think much about it.

This is not to assign blame. I understand that people have different skills, emotional states and life circumstances in general.

But I'd like to know more about this topic.
I find it fascinating from a popular science / self-help angle.

Can you suggest me a book?
