My nephew is 7 and although he is a very advanced reader for his age we haven’t really found anything he likes in terms of reading. I know he’s read diary of a wimpy kid and a few others like that but nothing’s captured his attention.

Trying to find series he might like. According to my sister he does like books about sirens and floods and stuff like that. Any books in the age range of 7+ that have to do with surviving disasters or stuff like that?

    1. Hatchet by Gary Paulson was the first book I thought of. Maybe a little advanced, but maybe not.

13-year-old Brian Robeson, must survive alone in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash, armed with only a hatchet his mother gave him. The book follows his transformation as he learns to find food, make fire, and build shelter, overcoming despair and self-pity to develop new patience and maturity. It is the first book in the “Brian’s Saga” series and won a Newbery Honor Award.

    2. There’s a whole series called “I Survived” by Lauren Tarshis that is in the 7-11 age range. Each book is about a specific disaster like tornados, Titanic, 9/11, etc.
