I loved how The Alchemist makes fortune and desire feel almost mystical, like the universe itself is guiding wealth and opportunity. I’m curious if there are other novels that treat money or luck in that same literary, almost magical way.
Any recs where ambition, wealth, or fate are woven into the story with that kind of mystical energy?

The Great Gatsby has that whole green light thing going on where money and desire get wrapped up in this dreamlike obsession. Not quite the same mystical vibe but Fitzgerald definitely makes wealth feel like this unreachable force that drives everything
You might dig The Goldfinch too – Tartt weaves art and money together in ways that feel almost fated, like certain objects carry their own gravitational pull toward fortune or disaster. Takes forever to get through but the payoff is worth it
