Recenly read and enjoyed The Undoing Of Violet Claybourne, which put me in the mood for more of this specific setting! Think: Rebecca meets Lisa Jewell. I like the gothic aspect of stately homes, but I'll also happily take: old money family now in ruin; house is crumbling around rich family; family is wealthy, house is full of servants, but something unsettling happens.
Alternatively, stately home but nothing creepy happens! Commoner marries into money, servants gossip; upstairs-downstairs dynamics à la Downton Abbey.
I have already read: The First 15 Lives Of Harry August, Rebecca, Victorian Psycho, Mexican Gothic, The Family Upstairs, The 7 Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle.
They don't need to be literary masterpieces like Rebecca, I'm content with something more "low brow", I'm just having a stressful time in life right now and want to unwind.
