My life is in shambles and I don’t like who I’ve become, how I think, act, communicate etc.
I’ve been in therapy but I haven’t found it effective, I’m not sure if I just haven’t found the right therapist or modality.
But I need to get my act together.
What are some good books, fiction and non-fiction, to learn, reflect, and grow from?

Self help is largely worthless as a genre imo, the majority is scams or bad science. What you need is a different therapist who can give you readings to guide you, people online don’t know you or what you’re struggling with. The only people who can guide you where you want to be are therapists. That being said I’d recommend All About Love by bell hooks.ihht help give at least a more positive view on the world and help you refocus around a love ethos as she calls it.
A Tale for the Time being by Ruth Ozeki was my turning point book. It’s fiction, an none of the content directly related to my own situation, but the combination of it being so compelling a read and the gentleness with which Ozeki handles her characters mental states just lifted me. It was the first book I’d finished in years at that point and it left a permanent, positive imprint on my soul.
I’m sorry to hear you are struggling. That is a painful place to be. I’m not sure if they will help you but here are some books that genuinely changed me for the better.
The Life of Pi by Yann Martel
The Alchemist- Paulo Coelho
The Power of Now- Eckhart Tolle
Hear Tourself- Pram Rawat
Fight Club- Chuck Palahniuk
Night- Ellie Wiesel
The Outrun by Amy Liptrot.
