I only recently got into some fantasy stuff because I LOVED Alchemised by SenLinYu, and some people recommended Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross saying it had a similar feel to Alchemised. I really couldn’t disagree more and I ended up donating it to a little free library. I think it really was just not my cup of tea and I’d rather not get into the reason why I disliked it because I don’t intend for this post to be a review post. But I did want to come on here and see if anyone who read Divine Rivals liked it enough to recommend it, as I know it is extremely popular and many people enjoy it as I see more conversation around it than Wild Reverence. Just wanted to get some two cents from anyone!! Thanks 🙂

I’d say Divine Rivals is way more engaging than Wild Reverence – the whole enemies-to-lovers thing with the rival journalists actually has some bite to it, plus the mythology elements feel more integrated into the plot rather than just window dressing. The pacing moves along nicely too, so even if you end up not vibing with it, you won’t feel like you’re slogging through it.

    2. Didn’t like Wild Reverance but LOVED Divine Rivals — it was a 5-star read for me. Would like to note, however, it’s Book 1 of a duology, and I didn’t like the second book at all. Was very disappointed (although I do wonder if I had unrealistic expectations of it given how much I adore Divine Rivals)
