It’s an older story, but I thought The Smartest Guys in the Room: The Amazing Rise and Scandalous Fall of Enron was very good.

I absolutely loved Catch and Kill and totally agree with your assessment. I don’t read a lot of nonfiction but take enjoyed the following for similar reasons:
Blood Royal by Eric Jager – about the assassination of the kings brother in 15th century Paris
Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe about the Troubles in Northern Ireland
Devil in the White City by Erik Larson about HH Holmes and the World’s Fair
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt about a murder in Savannah
