I’m in the mood for something straight up weird, not just quirky but actually unsettling or off in a way that sticks with you. Still want it to be well written though, not random for the sake of it.
If you’ve read a book that made you pause and go what did I just read in a good way, drop it.

I personally haven’t read it yet, but my friend talked about it a lot – House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. Otherwise, probably anything by H. P. Lovecraft or Edgar Allan Poe could work
Can I recommend a short story? I think the Yellow wallpaper fits into the description nicely.
The Library At Mount Char by Scott Hawkins.
We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kiewer. That book freaked me out, and I usually have a pretty high tolerance for freaky things.
Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh is weird and unsettling for sure, it’s also quite well written in my opinion. A story that shocks and makes you think and go wtf?
