I moved to Northern Colorado a couple years ago, bought a historic 1920 bungalow in a historic downtown, and would love to read a book set on the front range, mountains, or even Cheyenne WY, that might cover some history of the area I now live and plan to live for the forseeable future. Can be fiction or nonfiction, just looking to get a feel for what Colorado was like pre or post statehood, pioneers, settlers, Indians, maybe even up into the 1950s or so.

James Michener’s “Centennial” – meticulously researched fiction about the history of the state, set in the fictional town of Centennial.
Gilded Mountain by Kate Manning is about a young woman in early 1900s who leaves her family’s cabin in Colorado to work for a mining family.
