    I finished reading Dracula (Bram Stoker) for the first time and I want something similar but more of the stalked by monsters feeling when Johnathan is in the castle.

    I love vampires, ghosts, supernatural, ghouls, etc. I also love the setting, old English writing style though that’s not a requirement. I would prefer a setting that is not modern though.

    Thanks!

      The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones. It’s a fun take on a classic horror trope by one of the most interesting writers in genre fiction today.

    2. * _The Castle of Otranto_ by Horace Walpole
      * _The Mysteries of Udolpho_ by Ann Radcliffe
      * _The Monk_ by Matthew Lewis
      * _Frankenstein_ by Mary Shelley
      * _Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde_ by Robert Louis Stevenson
      * Short stories of Edgar Allan Poe
      * _In a Glass Darkly_ by J. Sheridan LeFanu (stories)

      I think these, along with _Dracula_, are the main classic English-language works you’d want on a syllabus centered on your theme.
