Hello, my oldest kid is 12yo and needs more book suggestions. They are almost done reading through the whole Lemony Snickey series and will need something new for a reading log assignment. Their 6th grade teacher had suggested The Green Mile before they started reading Lemony Snickey but I’ve never read a Stephen King book.
My kid says the favorite genre to read is realistic fiction but they like Percy Jackson, Lemony, Diary of a Wimpy kid. They don’t like Harry Potter.
I’m stumped because at that age, I was a Nancy Drew gal and I don’t know what is current for kids these days.

I loved Lemony Snicket as a kid! Here are some other books I liked:
The Westing Game
G.K. Chesterton’s Father Brown Stories
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (not especially realistic, but very very funny)
Murder on the Orient Express
And my nephew liked The Bletchley Riddle.
*And then? And then? What else?*, by Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket
*The Skull*, by Jon Klassen
How about [Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/857d341b-6e0b-4142-93c6-872d62e64e4d) by Brandon Sanderson?
