    Hello!

I am a follower of r/books mostly because I have family that loves reading and I browse for gift ideas 🙂

Meaning, I am not and have never been a reader. However my 10 year old son is. He has always been linguistically "advanced", but a short story he wrote shocked me with its quality.

My question is: Am I being biased thinking this is a masterpiece, or is this some real talent I'm looking at?

My son has never had his "thing". Doesn't do sports or have any extracaricul interests. Has he found his thing. This is a genuine question and not a boast as I'm not sure.

a passage from his story about Ignis the dragon:

"One evening a thick, freezing fog rolled off the glaciers, threatening to turn the nest into an icebox. The Elder Dragons were away and the hatchlings fire was too wild and brief to keep the cave warm. As the frost began to creep across the floor, Ignis stepped into the middle of the huddle. He took a deep breath and hiccupped. Instead of a flame that died in seconds, a massive, shimmering heat bubble drifted upward; it didn't pop, it expanded, coating the ceiling in a layer of golden warmth that trapped the heat inside the cave."
