I started river god but had to quit after like 20 pages. I was going to give a pass to the nearly 30 year old oogling the 14 year old even though it was making me uncomfortable but then the narrator described her slaves as "black sluts" and I was like "eeeek I'm out"
The thing is, apart from that it was looking to be a really gripping and interesting read, I know it's an epic series as well and was looking forward to the epic historical dive into ancient Egypt.
Is there something similar for a more sensitive reader like me?
(I didn't mind the gory hunting or even the pretty graphic prostitute descriptions – it was just the above stuff that was too much for me!)
