I've been pretty severely depressed since elementary (I have PTSD :/ ), and the hopelessness from years of feeling awful is getting to me. Life gets better, but I never seem to I guess. I'm looking for something that'll make me feel like there's something that'll make sticking around worth it, or something that'll make me feel hopeful. The flair says fiction, but I like non-fiction too. I have a big interest in religion, just all of them, so things with those themes are extra welcome. Only request is PLEASE nothing with sexual violence. Thanks 🙂

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. I read it when I was in a bad place myself and it really lifted and changed my perspective.
I was here once. I’m sorry. Reading memoirs particularly helped.
I read Shoe Dog – Phil Knight. This was oddly very soothing.
Also tried,
– Siddartha – Herman Hesse.
– Lonesome Dove.
Not books that are particularly relevant to what you’re going through. But will kick-start some feelings of hope in you.
• *Man’s Search for Meaning* by Viktor E. Frankl
• *Positive Psychology for Overcoming Depression* by Miriam Akhtar
• *The Power of Now* by Eckhart Tolle
• *Care of the Soul* by Thomas Moore
• *I Had a Black Dog* by Matthew Johnstone
Maybe these books can be helpful for you, especially the one by Dr. Frankl.
Good luck. Life is worth living. There are always possibilities.
