I read Project Hail Mary the first time this month and then saw the movie. I loved both. There’s something about it that just spoke to me personally in a way a book hasn’t in a long time. I’m a Biology graduate studying to become a science teacher. I felt so seen with Ryland’s character. But more than that, the optimistic nature of Rocky being something unknown but finding out they connect and bond, really got to me.
Man it’s gonna sound weird but I really miss Rocky’s character. It’s the first time in a long time I felt like I wanted a character in a book to be real as an adult. Last I had this was when I was a kid and read the Harry Potter books.
His character wasn’t just cute but his relationship with Dr. Grace is what I liked. I loved this optimism and friendship over learning together.
I’ve seen a lot of posts asking for similar books and getting other sci fi recs. TBH I’m not a genre specific guy. All I care about is really well written characters an plot over the setting. Any reccomendafions for books like this where the characters give off this kind of feeling?

Stormlight archive first book way of kings has me so attached to so many characters.
