Having read a lot of books, and quite a few good ones, I still can’t remember the last time I was really and truly impressed by the plot of a book.

So I’m ISO of books with smart plots AND great writing. It’s not that every book is the same, but I have very rarely come across anything that I think is truly unique plot-wise. Not looking for anything zany or radical, just something a little unique that’s worth the read.

And nothing with SA’s please. Not really into fantasy or horror

I think Piranese is worth a read.

It’s not a mind blowing twist but watching it all unravel was great and I think it’s on of the more unique books I’ve read

    2. Leaving Time by Jody Picoult

City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert

The Girl in the Mirror by Rose Carlyle

Crazy Rich Asians Series by Kevin Kwan

    3. I really like Covenant of Water (Abraham Verghese). Long book but beautiful writing and even better plot. I am also a very picky reader when it comes to plot.

Funny I just said the same after finishing Kin by Tayari Jones this week. Remarkable storytelling. Just git back from the bookstore trying to find a follow-up. No luck.

Here One moment by Liane Moriarty – woman goes down the plane aisle telling everyone their time of death and cause of death. Confusion and panic ensues. Book follows the past and future of the main characters involved.

Lying on the Couch by Irvin Yalom. Therapist sets himself a challenge to be completely authentic and candid with a patient. He doesn’t realise it but the patient he chooses for this experiment is lying to him and is only there because he’s trying to ruin him for reasons the book explains. Author is a famous psychiatry professor.
