Exactly what it says. I want something along the lines of the shows Castle and The Mentalist and Bones even. I miss that mid 2000s dynamic of fmc handling the dangerous business and an mmc along for the ride and the banter (ala patrick jayne and teresa lisbon), and I haven't really come across it much in written media. I'm open to any genre really, but ig based on the shows i gave, they tend to be mystery thrillers? Bonus points if they bicker lol thank you!

Well, Bones was based on a series of novels by Kathy Reichs. The first one is Deja Dead. They are a bit darker than the books.
J.D. Robb’s In Death series might work for you. Naked in Death is the first book. Those do have a romantic element, as the FMC and MMC get married early on in the books. FMC is a Homicide detective, and MMC is a retired thief who made a lot of money, went legit and became a billionaire, but helps out on cases. There is not much sci fi to them though they do take place in far-future New York.
