hello all! i just finished johnny got his gun and it very well may be my favorite book. i was highly interested from the premise alone, a deaf, blind, mute quadriplegic. its a somewhat simple book, with very few characters and virtually no setting. i loved reading these stream of conscious rants about time, love, what it means to be alive, etc. the ending was also incredibly powerful, i loved the harsh reality of the the military and the anti-war socialist message. im kind of rambling for my love of this book, haha. just trying to give a sense of what i find so appealing about it. a book i think is kind of similar was metamorphosis, which i also loved. theyre both pretty short books, take place mostly inside the protagonist's head, and deal with illness and capitalism. let me know of any recommendations. thanks!

    1. The Hole by Pyun Hye-young. Not an anti-war novel and thematically quite different, but deals with being trapped in your own body in a way that reminded me of Johnny Got His Gun.
