Hi everyone, my partners birthday is coming up and she has only started reading regularly in the past year. So I’m looking to buy her a couple of books.
She has taken a particular shine to thrillers especially anything written by Freida McFadden. She is a bit reluctant to step away from this authors work and read something written by someone else and doesn’t want to waste the money if she doesn’t enjoy it. I would like her to try and read a different genre of books but I’m not sure where to start. She has mentioned she would like to read some true crime but I don’t want to buy her anything that is too heavy.
Our reading tastes are very different so I don’t know much about thriller books at all lol. Thanks 🙂

Has she read/watched Gone Girl? I love everything I’ve read by Gillian Flynn personally
Also if you’re trying to get her into other genres, They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera is a contemporary fiction, and a larger still unfinished series. Maybe it isn’t getting away from stories where people die in them but.. it’s good lol.
The Maze Runner could be a good option too if she hasn’t read that already, which also leads me to ask has she read/watched The Hunger Games?
Holly Jackson’s A Good Girls Guide to Murder series may be fun for her. The Whisper Man by Alex North, Lisa Jewell’s None of This is True, and the Night Swim by Megan Goldin are some of my favorite thrillers.
Anything by the author of The Girl on The Train, Paula Hawkins
I love Shari LaPena. She does a lot of my fast-paced thrillers like McFadden.
