Check out the book The Speed of Souls by Nick Pirog. It was the first book that made me smile after my dog ran across the rainbow bridge.
The MC is a dog named Hugo who finds out that reincarnation is real, but someone/something has a sense of humor, when he is reborn as a kitten. And he doesn’t understand why he is now so enamored with empty cardboard boxes
