Can you recommend me some books written for adults that have mature and great sex scenes? I’ve read a couple of classics recently, and although they’re great as a whole, sex is rarely part of the plot. It is more so implied. Do you know of any contemporary authors that write in a classics-type style and also includes great sex? I’m thinking like sexy Steinbeck or something.

Sally Rooney. Not exactly “classics type style” but you can make comparisons with Jane Austen in terms of a study of society and relationships.

I think that may be the first time I have ever seen the phrase “sexy Steinbeck”, and I don’t hate it, lol.
Anais Nin is where you want to go. *Delta of Venus* or *Little Birds* – any of her books, really. Oh – *Henry and June* is her memoir about her relationship with Henry James – I think it’s actually insane that a woman of her time was willing to write about this stuff.
Also, James himself is a treasure trove. There’s reasons these books were banned, and absolutely SCANDALOUS in their time. I still think they’re totally erotic for our time – and much, MUCH more well-written than any modern romance (admittedly darker and more twisted, IMO).
Someone already suggested and I *highly* recommend Lady Chatterley’s Lover. I cannot believe it was even published when it was, TBH (1928)

The Anne Rice Beauty Trilogy. It’s super horny. It’s the set of books your mom will let you buy when you’re 13 because you’re going through your harmless vampire phase.
Valley of the Horses, the second Clan of the Cave Bear book by Jean Auel
Not a classic but Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon is the spiciest thing I’ve read in a while.
James Salter, _A Sport and a Pasttime_. Salter is widely considered one of the prose stylists of the twentieth century, but this book is genuinely pretty horny.
