I kept seeing people mention Stoner here and finally gave it a try.
Honestly didn’t expect much because the story sounds kind of boring on paper but it ended up hitting way harder than I thought. It’s just about a normal guy’s life nothing dramatic, but the way everything plays out feels really real.
It’s one of those books where nothing big happens but you still keep thinking about it after finishing.
If anyone’s read it, wondering how others felt about it. Also open to similar quiet but impactful book recommendations

Ok, it’s going on the list because I too have seen posts and really know nothing about the story. Your post gave me the nudge, thanks!
Unfortunately after reading it, I still don’t get the hype.Â
I wonder if people like it so much due to the fact that they grew up in a similar way to Stoner and relate to it that way?
Glad you enjoyed it though!Â
I read it last month as well and agree, following Stoner from his youth to death in such a broad yet detailed way was refreshing. A lot was said about him, relationships, friendships, and life in those 300 pages.
I just finished it myself. This morning actually. Still processing, I’m really not sure what to make of it yet
