i feel like this is such an under-represented genre and i’m searching for some lesser known gems or books that could fit under the umbrella if read through a queer lens! i’m open to cross-genre recs but i don’t really want more modern cowboy settings (say nothing later than 2000). i’d also love recommendations for queer non-fiction that explores the west and lgbtqia+ experiences through memoir, biography, or in broader academic terms.
books that i’ve read or are already on my list:
- brokeback mountain
- upright women wanted
- river of teeth
- power of the dog
- outlawed
- days without end
- a book of tongues
thanks so much for any suggestions! 🙂
