I've read a lot of books to date. I'm usually a fan of thrillers and mysteries, but recently, I've been bogged down by all the spouses killing each other in my usual books lol

I tried reading romance novels, but they're so…..bad? Everything that I've been recommended is something that reads like a bad porno. There is no plot, there is no nuance, there is no yearning. Everything seems so casual. It almost always leads up to the MCs rutting and then some random conflict and then resolution via having an actual conversation.

I guess I want something that seems almost magical. Love that exists in small spaces. Love that isn't so obvious at first. Love that is wholesome and kind. Love that is understanding and compassionate. Recommend me something that will make me believe that love is more than bodies colliding.

The only book I have felt this way towards is The Song of Achilles. It is a beautiful and pure love between Achilles and Patroclus from the perspective of Patroclus. It follows them from childhood to the end of their lives.

Ghosted/ the man who didn’t call by Rosie Walsh. Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty. A memoir where I found the love story very cute is This American Woman by Zarna Garg.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. It is a wonderful story, full of loneliness, longing and finally finding your person/family in the world. It is definitely wholesome and compassionate.

almond, it is a book about friendship but i think friendship is the root of love 🙂

    5. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë all do pretty good yearning.

    6. *The Hands of the Emperor* by Victoria Goddard
Deep love, endless yearning, zero sex, almost zero violence.

“Far from the Madding Crowd” by Thomas Hardy. Bathsheba Everdene is, in my opinion, the first modern heroine in the English language. She owns her own property, handles her own money, speaks her mind and runs her own life. It’s also a terrific love story.

    8. Meet Me On The Bridge -Sarah J. Harris

This book contains many loving relationships. I really enjoyed reading it.
