I keep thinking about the Polyphemus episode in the Odyssey and how memorable it is, and I’m curious if there are novels that reinterpret that myth or build on it in a smart way. Not just random fantasy creatures, more like a thoughtful take on the original story.
If you’ve come across anything like that, I’d love a recommendation.

oh this is so specific but i love it! there’s this book called “the song of achilles” by madeline miller – wait no that’s different myth but same vibes. actually for cyclops specifically you might want to check percy jackson series, rick riordan does interesting things with greek myths but maybe too YA for what you want?
i think what you’re looking for is more literary retellings right? like how madeline miller takes the original myths and makes them feel fresh. unfortunately i can’t think of cyclops-specific one off top of my head but maybe try searching for “greek mythology retellings” on goodreads and filter through them
