My sister is an accomplished botanist and arborist who is in the process of writing a book on this topic, in the context of spiritual practice as an inhabitant of the Intermountain West United States.
She asked me if I had any rituals that I practiced for my own meditation. I do: I like to go up into the mountains of Utah where I live and sit by running water. I’ll listen to the stream tumbling through the rocks, and the wind blowing through the trees, and let the experience carry my thoughts and cares away.
Her question led me here. Are there any books on this type of spiritual or emotional bond with nature? I’ve recently picked up *Desert Solitaire* and started to read it.
It could be a self help book or even nonfiction analyses.

Your sister sounds like she’s working on something really meaningful – there’s definitely Annie Dillard’s “Pilgrim at Tinker Creek” that explores nature observation as almost meditation practice, and maybe “Braiding Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer which blends indigenous wisdom with botanical science in really beautiful way
