a book which revolves around a character's obsessive, envious and twisted character. they are not the person you should be friends with. probably they lie, they cheat, they are problematic, but they are not completely evil.
eg of something similar- the secret history, every character is twisted in one way or other.

gone girl is perfect for this – amy dunne is absolutely unhinged but in such a calculated way that you’re almost impressed by how fucked up she is. also try we need to talk about kevin, the mom is unreliable as hell and you spend the whole book wondering if she’s telling the truth or just trying to make herself look better after her kid does something horrific.
