I’ve had a lot of interrupted time lately, so I’ve been reading Essay Collections to dive into reading when I can. I’ve been enjoying collections such as The Collected Schizophrenias by Esmé Weijun Wang and Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay. I enjoy essays with themes of mental growth, mental health in general, LGBTQ+ perspectives, being an immigrant, building a chosen family, etc. I am turning 40 next month and I emigrated from the US to Uruguay this year so I’m open to books available in English or Spanish.

Have you read Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime? It’s about growing up mixed-race in South Africa before the end of apartheid and in its aftermath. Hilarious, clever and touching.
Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris would also probably work! The author moves to Paris from the USA with his husband and despairs of ever being able to “talk pretty” in French. It’s so funny!
