I’ll be heading to Rome, Florence, and Venice, and I’d love to prepare by reading books that make me appreciate any of those cities more. I don’t just want them to be the setting or title; I want them to make me feel like I know the city a bit better.
“The Lions of Al-Rassan” and “Neverwhere” evoked those feelings for me in Moorish Spain and London, respectively.
