    Hello!

I just finished Strength of the Few (Hierarchy #2), which I really enjoyed, and need some help choosing my next series

I would like to start a series which has at least 3 books published, preferably longer, as I already have a number of books I read which are ongoing, and the wait is starting to annoy me a little.

So, on to what I read (or listened to) and liked recently:

    Read:

    – The Will of the Many / Hierarchy (really great world building)

    – Red Rising (still thinking about it, absolutely consumed me. Listened to first 3 books, then read the next ones);

    – the entire Cosmere, including all novellas. Stormlight was my favorite part.

    – The Expanse (fantastic ending)

    – Hyperion Cantos

    – older reads, in no particular order: Harry Potter (7+ times growing up), Witcher, Wardstone Chronicles, all of Dan Brown's books, some Stephen King, Lord of the Rings, the Black Magician Trilogy

    Listened to:

    – Dungeon Crawler Carl (2 times back to back. Became a patreon member and also read book #8 already. I really really like the series)

    – Bobiverse

    – Lord of the Rings read by Andy Serkis

    – Project Hail Mary

    – older audiobooks: Dune (gave up at some point, as it was too much for me)

    ——–

Would like to maybe read something sci-fi next, but am not set 100% on that. Would also like to start a longer series, at least a trilogy, but ideally even longer; something like Stormlight Archive. Also, I am a bit tired of the heartbreak, characters dying etc. Red Rising does that to you.

Out of the books listed above, my favorite are: DCC, Red Rising, Stormlight Archive, LoTR. But I really enjoyed all of them.

I have The First Law ready to be started as an audiobook, as soon as I finish LoTR (have around 5 hours left), so I only need to choose a book/series to be read.

Have looked around a bit for recommendations, and so far the top idea is the Children of Time series.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion!

    1. Was going to recommend **Children of Time** based on your title and I see that’s already your top choice, so would definitely say go for that one! It can be enjoyed as a great standalone, but also the fourth book in the series was just released, so if you’re looking for a series it’s perfect.

I’d also recommend **Elder Race** by Adrian Tchaikovsky, a short, standalone novella, with some really creative ideas at play.

Ooh, and since you listen to audiobooks you should definitely check out the Cradle series by Will Wight, starting with **Unsouled**, narrated by Travis Baldree. A fun, fast-paced, ‘progression fantasy’ (with a hint of sci-fi!) series, clearly influenced by, and paying homage to, some classic anime/shonen, as well as some other martial-arts type genres. A great cast of characters, creative magic/world building, adventure, and an epic story told over the course of 13 fast books. It’s decent from the start but really hits its stride around like, the end of book 2, then it’s one of the most fun series I’ve listened to in years!

    2. Minnesotabnb on

I suggest The Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne.

The 5 Warrior Angels by Brian Lee Durfee

    3. The Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold. It’s 16 novels and 5 novellas. It has amazing characters and great world building. The early books has some parallels to Red Rising in that the MC is able to get people to follow him in wild audacious plans. If you want to start there, begin with The Warrior’s Apprentice and then do The Vor Game.

It’s an overall positive series, although there are some dark parts, and very few of the characters die.

    4. The Sun Eater series by Christopher Ruocchio. The first book is Empire of Silence
