I’m looking for books that are adventure-y with cryptids or something similar. I’d like something that has a similar vibe to Gravity Falls and Over the Garden Wall, preferably not sinister or extremely dark but still involving similar themes from the two shows 🙂 hopefully that isn’t too complicated! 😀
I’ve tagged as adventure, but I’m also happy with graphic novels/manga or fantasy! Thanks in advance!

A Lonely Broadcast by Kel Byron has a “Gravity Falls for adults” feel to it
the wayward children series by seanan mcguire might be up your alley – it’s got that whimsical but slightly eerie vibe without being too dark. each book follows kids who’ve been to magical worlds and are trying to find their way back, lots of strange creatures and portal shenanigans. also check out the ten thousand doors of january if you want something a bit more adventurous with interdimensional weirdness.
this is such a good niche omg i love this
fifty beasts to break your heart by gennarose nethercott is a short story collection featuring diferent beasts/cryptids
the girl from the other side manga series is about a creepy creature raising a young human girl. it gets pretty sad but is such a good series
piranesi by susanna clarke kinda leans away from the cryptid theme but i think it perfectly encapsulates the mystery vibe that both of those shows have
the oddity series by eli brown is about a young girl who wants to avenge her dead father and gaining knowledge about her family, so she starts travelling to the king. along the way she makes friends with quirky characters and creatures and i think the whole vibe is very gravity falls esq:3
